About the Role: 

Do you have a knack for coaching leaders and leading the way for cultural excellence in health, safety and the environment? We are looking for a dynamic Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Business Partner to join our Christchurch team. In this role, you will provide technical and practical HSE support, develop our leaders' HSE capabilities, and drive a strong safety culture.

This part-time role involves working 20 hours per week and requires flexibility to support various site initiatives. Specific days and hours of work can be negotiated but must be within normal business hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Inspire: Coach business leaders to proactively manage safety and demonstrate inclusive leadership.
  • Ensure Compliance: Champion compliance with HSE and Workers Compensation Acts, legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and standards.
  • Drive Safety Programmes: Implement the Safety for Everyone Everyday programme and support the Tip Top Steps to Zero initiatives.
  • Foster Safety Culture: Move safety culture towards interdependence on the Bradley Curve through coaching and leadership.
  • Manage Risk: Provide direction in managing risk and support teams in developing risk management plans.
  • Conduct Audits: Lead self-assessments and audits, and coach leaders to achieve HSE audit performance objectives.
  • Support Injury Management: Oversee injury management programmes and support workers compensation and return to work (RTW) plans.
  • Analyse Data: Monitor, analyse, and report on injury and incident data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate: Build long-term relationships with the site leadership team and co-create site-related HSE documentation.
  • Reduce Environmental Impact: Provide guidance to site teams to actively reduce environmental impact and ensure site environmental plans are up to date.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in a HSE role with demonstrated leadership and technical skills preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge: Broad knowledge of HSE legislation and best practices.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Business Partnering: Understand commercial drivers and enable others to succeed.
  • Role Model: Hands on and willing to work alongside the Operations team and supporting leaders.
  • Change Management: Ability to engage people in positive change.
  • Leadership: Ability to influence others and hold people accountable.
  • Strategic Thinking: Align HSE strategy with business goals.
  • Technical Requirements: Professional registration preferred
