About the Role:

The primary purpose of this role is to lead the Dough Room (Pastry) team, ensuring full compliance with food safety and people safety standards while maintaining operational excellence. Leading a team of five, you will be responsible for building capability, developing team knowledge, and reinforcing our commitment to being the “Most Trusted Brand” when it comes to Big Ben Pies!

This is a full-time, permanent position based at our Wiri Bakery.

Hours of work:
Sunday to Thursday, 5:15pm – 1:45am.

Key accountabilities of this position include:

• Oversee the training of all team members using the “buddy” system and ensure everyone is trained as required
• Has complete knowledge of the technical process and ensures that this is adhered to by the team and escalated as required.
• Ensuring products are produced & packed to specification
• All H&S related matters are managed in accordance with H&S procedures
• All food safety related matters are managed in accordance with Food Safety procedures
• Manage the team and ensure that feedback and performance management is undertaken as required
• Drive shift QATs/ Bucket Walks and weekly Safety Walks

 About You:

• Proven leadership experience within a manufacturing or production environment; FMCG experience is highly desirable.
• A passion for producing safe, high-quality food for New Zealand communities.
• Strong ability to train, coach, and develop team members on the job.
• Physically fit and capable of working on your feet for extended periods, including lifting up to 25kg above shoulder height.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritise and multitask.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• High levels of energy, enthusiasm, and drive, with a proactive approach to work.
• Due to health and safety requirements, this role requires the use of a full-face respirator mask. To ensure a proper seal around the nose and mouth, successful candidates must be clean shaven.
